I do feel Neymar is more influential these days," Balague said. "It was noted when Messi got injured for two months, but generally in the last 12 months you've got one of the few players in the world who can beat defenders, whose pace is electrifying, and who not only scores but assists as well. He's got everything to be the second best player in the world."

He's got everything to be the second best player in the world."
"Ronaldo's influence on games has diminished, there's no doubt about that" Balague told Sky Sports. "The best Real Madrid ended in December after the Club World Cup and 22 consecutive victories. After that, according to [Real Madrid president] Florentino Perez himself, the team went into decay. That affected everybody, especially Ronaldo."
At the same time, Balague also says: "For me, he's the greatest goalscorer in history".
He was unable to inspire his country to Copa America success in Chile during the summer, but he looks back to his best since returning from injury this month and Balague thinks he deserves to win it.
"Barcelona can still compete against anyone without him but to get the records and the titles that will make them an extraordinary side, they need Messi," he said. "You have to give him the Ballon d'Or again. You have to reward what we're seeing, which is absolutely out of this world."
Di Maria had the best two chances of the second half for PSG, forcing a one-on-one save from Keylor Navas just after half-time before hitting the crossbar with a free-kick late on.
Blanc lauded the Argentina midfielder – who signed from Manchester United for an estimated €63million at the start of the season – for upping his game against his former club
"Just like the rest of the team, Angel dramatically raised his performance level compared to recent matches," the coach told reporters at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"That result shows how football can turn out sometimes. But I think in a game like that – even if we didn't get the points we came for – we have to see the positives.
"After the first leg [which was drawn 0-0 at Parc des Princes a fortnight ago], some people said that we are not able to compete with the tempo of Real, but we showed that we can endanger any team tonight.
"Compared to our last game against Madrid, our offensive movement was much better. Real Madrid didn't come close to walking all over us.
"We have to build on this; it bodes well for the future. I'm pretty satisfied on the balance of both games against Madrid."
After the French champions were beaten 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League, Al-Khelaifi responded to reports of their pursuit of the Portuguese by insisting that they "respect" his contract with the Spanish club.
Though denying that PSG have had any contact with Madrid over a deal for the 30-year-old forward, he admitted that he would say the same thing had any negotiations in fact taken place.
"Ronaldo has a contract with Real Madrid and we respect that," he told beIN Sports, "If there were negotiations they would be in secret. But right now we don't have any negotiations with Ronaldo at all."
Ronaldo did not have his best game for Madrid as they beat the French champions, with first-half substitute Nacho netting the winning goal with only his second touch.
The Portuguese has already scored five goals in the Champions League this season, however, with a further 10 having come for Rafa Benitez's side in La Liga.
Ozil has already set up seven goals in nine Premier League appearances this campaign while scoring once himself, and Ramsey is in awe of his team-mate's abilities and vision.
Nevertheless, Ramsey has made it clear Ozil is not the best player he has played with at Arsenal since joining the club from Cardiff City in 2008, saving that honour for current Chelsea man Fabregas.
"He has a great eye for a ball – he has many assists – and his weight of pass is fantastic as well," Ramsey told the official UEFA website.
"He finds those little pockets of space very well and links up the play."
"Cesc Fabregas is the best player I have played with at Arsenal. He played in the same position as me and to have him to look up to when I first came here," the Wales international added.
"He was playing every week, assisting, scoring. He was just a very accomplished midfielder, so probably him [was best]."
Ramsey also had words of praise for Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi and has backed the 19-year-old to shine.
"Alex Iwobi is one to look out for, I think. He is very gifted and has great feet, so I am sure he will be one to look out for in the future," he concluded.
The teenager made his senior debut in the Gunners' 3-0 League Cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday
And, after declaring his delight at reaching the last eight in the immediate aftermath of the match, Klopp told Sky Sports: "We are in the next round... do we know who we will play next?"
In the draw, which was done after his comments, the Reds were handed an away trip to Southampton in the last eight.
Reflecting on the performance of his much-changed side, Klopp commented: "It was very important because we decided that we would play this game with a new team, but to win is always good for the feeling of the whole team.
"Now we have another three days to prepare for Chelsea [in the Premier League], that's difficult too.
"You saw these guys want and, for me, that's the most important thing.
"If a new manager comes in they have a lot of new information and they have to talk about new and other things
"It's normal if you make first a step back because you try to understand.
"You want to do what I say, but sometimes they forget to do what they can.
"We need both, of course, but [the win] was a big step."
Christian Benteke missed the tie with a knee injury, but Klopp revealed the Belgian could be back in contention for the Chelsea clash
If Ronaldo has ever been curious about what life would be like at the Parisian club, Wednesday will provide him with an accurate idea. And, who knows, that could ultimately be one of the factors behind a possible departure from Real Madrid.
There are many people who suggest that an exit could be closer than ever, especially now that Ronaldo has managed to etch his name into the club's history books by surpassing Alfredo Di Stefano (307 goals) and Raul Gonzalez (323) to become Madrid's all-time top scorer. Just over a year ago, Goal was alerted to the possibility of such a move away from the Bernabeu after speaking to sources close to the player himself.
Ronaldo also loves Madrid, of course, and he wants to be remembered as not only the club's greatest goalscorer but as the best ever player. Throughout this year, though, Goal has learned that many within the club believe that Ronaldo may move on sooner rather than later; whispers of a hypothetical departure for the Portuguese forward are widespread behind the scenes at Real.
There is also the lack of trophies to go with his individual awards, Madrid's sudden support of his theoretical heir Gareth Bale, the alleged meeting between Florentino Perez and PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi in France (denied by both parties) and the fact that time is taking its toll on Ronaldo. At almost 31, his physique is not what it once was and he is participating much less in overall team play, even if the goals are still flying in.
These are only voices that circulate around both Real Madrid and the player, but they have led many to believe - as the old proverb goes - that "there is no smoke without fire". Perhaps as a response to all the rumours, there have been several declarations of love between the club and Cristiano. President Perez, for example, confirmed that Ronaldo's exit would only be possible if another side paid his buy-out clause while revealing that he hopes Ronaldo "continues to give joy to the team for much longer".
Especially striking was the tribute paid by Florentino to the Portuguese during the last Members Assembly when the club chief singled the forward out for high praise, with Ronaldo responding positively in an interview with Marca soon after.
"I dream of retiring at Real Madrid," he said. It was a statement with a firm intention that has not been seen in recent times, with the Portuguese usually opting for the postscript: "You never know what can happen in the future."
So recent developments would suggest that Madrid and Ronaldo are more connected than they have been for some time. Given the previous history of disagreements between player and club, however, PSG will not give up hope of landing the Portuguese forward sooner rather than later; indeed, Goal can confirm that the Ligue 1 leaders have remained in fluid and constant contact with Ronaldo.
In the meantime, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has already been introduced to the Parisian club through Angel Di Maria, one of Cristiano's former Madrid team-mates and a big summer signing for PSG. There have been many meetings between Mendes and Al-Khelaifi since then, with a view to building an even stronger relationship and Ronaldo always at the forefront of their talks.
On Wednesday, then, the Portuguese will inevitably be the main attraction for both teams in their Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes. It is a position Ronaldo is used to being in
Bayern face the Gunners in a Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, with the gap between the pair standing at six points at the home side needing to win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive.
And although Arsenal have lost both of their opening fixtures in the competition, Guardiola remains in awe of Wenger, who has changed the philosophy of the club since taking the helm in 1996 and become the Gunners' figurehead.
"Twenty years at one club is now impossible," Guardiola told reporters on Monday. "Wenger is not only a coach, he is a sporting director.
"He changed the club. They played defensively before he came.
"Wenger is more than just a coach for this club - he is almost everything."
The 65-year-old was speaking ahead of the Gunners’ trip to Watford on Saturday, where they could move to the top of the Premier League providing they win and Manchester City lose to Bournemouth at home.
“You could say it’s linked more to bravery - your character is more tested away from home, at home you feel the players are a bit more protected.” the Arsenal manager told Arsenal Player.
“But what I say to my scouts is, ‘Watch this player for me, but watch him in an away game.’ You want to know how he behaves away from home because usually at home you will be all right.
“If a scout comes to me and says he has found a good player, I ask where he saw him. If it was at home, I tell them to go and watch them away as well because it’s a better test of their character, their bravery and their desire.
“Once a player is good away from home, you can say you will consider him.”

The Germany international joined the Gunners for €50 million (£42.5m) in the summer of 2013 and came under scrutiny for inconsistency in his first two seasons. And Ozil has insisted that the price-tag was excessive, as he believes no footballer is worth such a sum.
"Nobody in the world is worth €50 million," he told Express.
"We must be careful in football that we do not lose the grip of our credibility."
Arsenal have been drawn in the same group as Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Ozil feels they are coming up against a side capable of winning the trophy this term.
"Bayern are one of the strongest teams in the world and they can beat just about any opponent," he added.
"Some other teams will have a say in it, but why can't Bayern win the competition? They are in a narrow circle of favourites.
David Beckham insists that he took no offence to Sir Alex Ferguson’s assertion that he only worked with four world-class players during his time at Manchester United.
Ferguson, speaking ahead of the launch of his latest book, claimed that Eric Cantona, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo were the only truly elite players to play for him at Old Trafford.
Beckham famously fell out with Ferguson prior to his move to Real Madrid in 2003 – with the Scot kicking a boot that hit him in the face – but he has now revealed that he agrees with his former manager.
When asked if he was hurt by Ferguson’s claim, he told the BBC: "Not at all. I played for the greatest manager of all time for the amount of time that I did, I was lucky to have played with the players I did and the team and be successful with the club that I loved and still love.
“I tend to agree with the manager, there's certain players that you can call world-class, thankfully I played with many of them.”
Beckham won six Premier League titles during his time at United, along with two FA Cups and the Champions League, while also playing for the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG, but he has laughed off the suggestion that he was as good as Ronaldo.
"No, I was lucky enough to play against Cristiano and I was also lucky enough to play with Brazilian Ronaldo for four years,” he added.
“I'm proud as a Manchester United player that we were successful and I'm proud as a Manchester United player that we have the best players come to our team.”
However, the striker has immediately impressed scoring four goals in four games, netting against fierce rivals Liverpool before scoring a double at Southampton and grabbing a goal against Ipswich Town in the League Cup.
Despite the French youngster's early form, Wenger has suggested that Martial was more of a wide player, indicating that the Gunners already have enough quality in that area of their squad to even consider signing him.
Philippe Lamboley, Martial's agent, has responded to his comments, suggesting Arsenal, who signed only Petr Cech in the summer window, are a club that follow players rather than buying them.
"If the analysis of Wenger was to justify not having signed Anthony, then I accept his words and so he's a a winger. But in football there are those who follow players and those that buy them," he told RMC radio station.
"Anthony is a true modern centre forward. I am surprised by the analysis of Wenger, who has apparently followed him since he was an adolescent."
Lamboley also offered his thoughts on Martial's game, insisting that the 19-year-old has always been thought of as a striker.
"I don't agree with [Wenger] because Anthony scored between 25-30 goals a season when he was in Lyon's youth academy and never played as a winger," he added.
"When he goes wide and then comes central, it's to pick up speed and get away from the centre-backs."
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Pep Guardiola rejected the chance to succeed him as Manchester United manager in 2013.
Ferguson ended his 26-year tenure with United at the end of the 2012-13 Premier League season, with then-Everton manager David Moyes chosen as his successor.
But just 27 wins in 51 games saw Moyes sacked less than a 12 months into a six-year contract, and Ferguson now says that ex-Barcelona boss Guardiola - and not fellow Scot Moyes - was the first choice for the role.
“I had dinner with Pep Guardiola in New York in 2012, but couldn’t make him any direct proposal because retirement was not on my agenda at that point,” Ferguson said at his book launch on Monday, according to the Daily Telegraph.
“He had already won an enviable number of trophies with Barcelona… and I admired him greatly. I asked Pep to phone me before he accepted an offer from another club, but he didn’t and wound up joining Bayern Munich in July 2013.”
Ferguson said that a host of elite coaches were all considered to succeed him - including current Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal - but that the timing was not right for most.
"Life is such that the best of theories, or the best of intentions, sometimes don’t translate into practice,” Ferguson said. “Believe me, the United board wanted nothing more than to select a manager who would be with the club for a long time.
“When we started the process of looking for my replacement, we established that several very desirable candidates were unavailable. It became apparent that Jose Mourinho had given his word to Roman Abramovich that he would return to Chelsea, and that Carlo Ancelotti would succeed him at Real Madrid.
“We also knew that Jurgen Klopp was happy at Borussia Dortmund and would be signing a new contract. Meantime, Louis van Gaal had undertaken to lead the Dutch attempt to win the 2014 World Cup.”
United's longest-serving manager said that the process of selecting 52-year-old Moyes was "perfect," even though things did not work out for the now-Real Sociedad coach while he was at Old Trafford.
"Once I'd conveyed it [his decision to retire] to the Glazers, then the process started of looking for successors," Ferguson said, according to the Daily Mail
.
"We chose David Moyes. He had been consistent in his job at Everton, had a good spell there - 11 years and showed appetite. No one knew apart from the Glazers, David Gill and myself.
"When we appointed him, the press were enthusiastic for a British manager. Unfortunately, somehow it didn't work out for David. The process was perfect. It was a good process."
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Paul Pogba’s departure from Manchester United in 2012 was triggered by the midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola.
The France international left Old Trafford on a free transfer to join Juventus, with United receiving just £800,000 compensation for the then 19-year-old, who has since gone on to win three Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia, and was named Best Young Player at the 2014 World Cup.
At the time of Pogba’s exit, Ferguson had criticised the player for showing a lack of respect, but now the former United manager admits that Raiola’s interference was a factor in the midfielder’s move to Italy.
“There are one or two football agents I simply do not like, and Mino Raiola, Paul Pogba’s agent, is one of them,” Ferguson wrote in his new book ‘Leading’ .
"I distrusted him from the moment I met him. He became Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent while he was playing for Ajax, and eventually he would end up representing Pogba, who was only 18-years-old at the time.
“We had Paul under a three-year contract, and it had a one-year renewal option which we were eager to sign. But Raiola suddenly appeared on the scene and our first meeting was a fiasco.
"He and I were like oil and water. From then on, our goose was cooked because Raiola had been able to ingratiate himself with Paul and his family and the player signed with Juventus.”

Arsenal are expected to report on Tuesday that a second £3 million payment has been made by the club to a company owned by majority shareholder Stan Kroenke.
